President Mohamed Nasheed has appealed to all government authorities and local councils to continue their public health protection work, following the outbreak of Dengue earlier this month.

In his weekly radio address, the President noted that the Maldives has faced infectious diseases, transmitted by mosquitoes, for a long time. He called on the recently elected local councils to continue to encourage people to take actions, to prevent the spread of infectious disease.

The President announced that the government’s Dengue task force has now been dissolved as the outbreak has been brought under control. He commended the high-level task force for their excellent work in controlling the dengue outbreak. He also thanked the people for their support and all agencies for their efforts in countering the outbreak.
