During his visit to New York, President Mohamed Nasheed has yesterday met with Indian External Affairs Minister, Mr S. M. Krishna.

At the meeting, discussions were focused on the excellent bilateral cooperation between the Maldives and India and on climate change issues.

Mr S. M. Krishna welcomed the President’s speech at the UN Summit on Climate Change. He also said India and the Maldives could collaborate on the issue of climate change, which he said is a matter of great concern to India as well.

As part of his visit, the President met with business leaders to discuss the Maldives’ plan to become carbon neutral.

The meeting was organised by The Climate Group and was attended by people from different backgrounds interested in Maldives’ plan to go carbon neutral.

Earlier in the day the President met with Daniel Morrell of Carbon Gold and discussed ways in which they could assist the Maldives become carbon neutral.

Daniel Morrell said Carbon Gold could do a detailed study on how to achieve Maldives’ goal to become carbon neutral.
