President Inaugurates Bus Service in Male’

President Mohamed Nasheed has today inaugurated the bus service in Male’ City.

To inaugurate the service, the President took bus to Male’ Southwest Harbour and back, after the inauguration ceremony held this morning at Boduthakurufaanu Magu, in front of Alimas Ufaa Carnival.

The President was joined on the bus by Male’ City Mayor and other members of the Male’ City Council.

While visiting Southwest Harbour, the President, joined by other officials, enjoyed a local breakfast at one of the cafés in the harbour area.

Bus service, launched today by Male’ City Council as a trial, will be operated by MVK Maldives. Service is provided free of charge today, and from tomorrow, each passenger will be charged a fare of Rf5.
