President Mohamed Nasheed has met with Ambassador of France accredited to the Maldives Christine Robichon yesterday.

At the meeting, the President elaborated on the history of Franco-Maldives relations that began in 1700s.

Further, he noted that the government has introduced teaching French in some government schools. He said the government intended to begin teaching French in the Maldives more vigorously with the introduction of new school curriculum.

At meeting held at the Official Residence of the President, Mulee-aage, Ambassador Robichon was accompanied by Captain Xavier Moreau, the Captain of French Landing Helicopter Dock Mistral and Captain Christophe Lucas, the Captain of French frigate Georges Leygues currently visiting the Maldives.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Naseem also attended the meeting.
