The National Honours Committee has opened nominations this year’s National Awards today.

At a press conference held at the President’s Office, Chairman of the Committee Mahmood Raazee and the members of the Committee provided additional details on the National Awards.

The government confers two categories of National Awards annually – the National Award of Honour and the National Award of Recognition.

This year, the National Award of Honour will be conferred to:

  1. individuals who have served 35 years or more in their respective field of work;
  2. individuals who have received the National Award of Recognition and have since served 10 years consecutively with a total of 35 years of service.

Companies and non-government organisations who have received the Award of Recognition and have since served 10 years consecutively with a total of 35 years of service can also be nominated for the National Award of Honour.

Individuals, companies and non-government organizations that have consecutively worked for at least 10 years in their respective field of work can be nominated for National Award of Recognition.

Nominations will stay open from 1 June 2011 to 31 July 2011.
