New Ambassador of Italy accredited to the Maldives Fabrizio Pio Arpea has presented his Letter of Credence to President Mohamed Nasheed.
At the ceremony held at the President’s Office to present the Credentials, President Nasheed congratulated the new Ambassador.
The President highlighted the Maldives’ commitment to strengthen the longstanding relationship between the Maldives and Italy. On the on-going engagements between both countries, the President highlighted the proposed trip of 20 Italian students to the outpost of the University of Milano-Bicocca in the Maldives.
The new Italian Ambassador reiterated the importance of the ongoing business engagements between the two countries, especially in tourism. In particular, he discussed the ways in which the Maldives could benefit by increasing the activities of Italian stakeholders and development partners to promote the sustenance of a viable economy.
The meeting was attended by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Waheed, Advisor on Political Affairs Mohamed Shihab, Foreign Policy Advisor Dr Ahmed Shaheed and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Naseem.
