President Appoints Niyaz Ibrahim as the Auditor General

President Mohamed Nasheed has appointed Mr Niyaz Ibrahim as the Auditor General today.

The People’s Majlis, on Monday, approved the President’s nomination of Mr Ibrahim as the Auditor General.

Speaking after presentation of Letter of Appointment to Mr Ibrahim, at a ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning, the President expressed his confidence in Mr Ibrahim’s capability as the Auditor General.

The President said all the independent institutions established under the new constitution of the Maldives should function as envisaged by the constitution to ensure the country’s progress.

In this regard, the President asked the new Auditor General to regularly and comprehensively audit all government authorities, and other institutions and the entire state treasury.

Prior to the presentation of the Letter of Appointment, Mr Ibrahim took the oath of office as the Auditor General before the Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef.
