Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed has inaugurated the work of establishing the sewerage system and harbour development project of North Miladhunmadulu Funadhoo this morning. These two projects are to be undertaken with loan aid by the government of Japan.
Speaking at the function held at Funadhoo, this morning, Vice President Dr Waheed said Funadhoo would be more developed and one of the most liveable islands in the Maldives in the future.
Dr Waheed said the development of an island required provision of necessary services for the people and better infrastructure. Furthermore, he noted that the projects inaugurated today would contribute towards the infrastructural development of the island.
Speaking in this regard, the Vice President said, in order to achieve real development, we should improve the quality of life of the people with better healthcare and education, strengthen our Islamic faith and renew our traditions along with the development of infrastructure.
In his address, Dr Waheed thanked the people and the government of Japan for the aid and assistance Japan have rendered for the development of the Maldives.
