President Mohamed Nasheed has asked Minister of State, Controller of Immigration and Emigration Sheikh Ilyas Hussain Ibrahim to halt the new border control system project.

 
President Nasheed requested Controller of Immigration and Emigration Sheikh Ilyas Hussain Ibrahim to comply with the Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) order to cease the project being carried out by the Department of Immigration and Emigration with Nexbis of Malaysia to install a new border control system.
 
A note addressed to Sheikh Ilyas Hussain Ibrahim, sent from the President’s Office to Department of Immigration of Emigration said ACC was a statutory body, and requested compliance of all the government authorities with the Commission’s instructions.
 

The note from the President’s Office to the Immigration Department also recalled the directive issued by the President’s Office on 21 October 2010 requesting full compliance of all the government authorities with the Commission’s instruction to suspend or discontinue any of the government projects.
