During his current tour to Mulaku atoll, the President today visited Maduvvaree island and met with the people of the island.
The President gave an update of developmental projects and briefed on planned projects for the islands.
He discussed the achievements in providing social security services to the people and noted that by November of this year, 164 people of the island had been registered in the Madhana health insurance scheme while 59 people over 65 years of age are enlisted for Rf 2000 old age pension.
President Nasheed said under beach replenishment project 88,524sq metre land have been reclaimed in Maduvvaree. He added work on the development of the land would start soon.
The President also spoke on government’s major pledges and plans for the socio-economic development of the country.
