At today’s cabinet meeting, members deliberated on the work of the National Planning Council.
The mandate of the National Planning Council includes, formulating and coordinating national development policies; establishing national development targets and deadlines; as well as, consulting and determining regional development plans based on resource availability in the regions. The National Planning Council will be headed by the President.
Members also discussed on the areas from which members should be nominated. At a previous cabinet meeting it was decided that a member will be nominated from the civil society and the private sector.
At today’s meeting, members of the Cabinet were allowed time to address queries to the President as the procedure has been approved recently.
