Senior management of Imaduddin School brief President Mohamed Nasheed on the school’s special needs programme, at a meeting held this morning at the President’s Office.

The participants briefed the President on the work being carried out under the special needs programme and on the various difficulties they face.

The President noted the importance of empowering special needs children and commended the work of Imaduddin School in this endeavour. He also assured that the government would assist the school in every way it can to carry out the project.

Speaking further, the President said that the government would assist the school in seeking a consultant and a therapist to help the school enhance the project.

Discussions were also held on the importance to promote greater public awareness on the need for a changed public perception of people with disabilities.

The meeting was attended by Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed and Deputy Minister of Education Ms Shifa Mohamed.
