President Mohamed Nasheed has today ratified the Bill on Maldivian Red Crescent. Following ratification, the Act has been published in the government Gazette.
The ratification of the Act gives the legal right to form a Maldivian Red Crescent society which will be a volunteer society working to provide humanitarian assistance.
The key objective of the Maldivian Red Crescent Society is to strive through voluntary action, to address human sufferings and crisis with a focus on promoting humanitarian values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, and health and community care.
