Non-Resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bhutan to the Maldives, Her Excellency Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee, presented her Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassador was escorted in a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The President accepted the Letter of Credence and formally welcomed Her Excellency Dasho Karma Hamu Dorjee as the Ambassador of Bhutan.
Following the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador held discussions on areas of mutual interest, including tourism and the exchange of expertise in hospitality, and both sides affirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Bhutan were established on 13 July 1984.
