President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Hassan Zareer as Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises.
The letter of appointment was presented to the Minister during an official ceremony held at the President’s Office this evening.
The oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Justice, Honourable Uz Mohamed Saleem, following which the Minister signed the declaration of oath.
Hassan Zareer has held various positions in taxation and auditing since 2000. Most recently, he served as Director of Finance (Group Shared Financial Services) and Group Chief Compliance Officer at Villa Shipping and Trading Company Pvt. Ltd. He also served as Chairman of the Bank of Maldives from 7 March 2024 to 23 May 2024. Prior to that, he held the post of Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation.
Hassan Zareer holds a Bachelor of Accounting and a Master of Science in Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is also a Fellow Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA, CGMA) in the United Kingdom and a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) in Australia.
