The National Awards Committee has opened nominations for the National Award for Public Service, with the award criteria published in the Government Gazette.
The Award is a national honour conferred by the President, recognising individuals who have served the state for more than 35 years and who have carried out their duties with capability and sincerity, contributing to the advancement of their institutions.
Recipients will be presented with a shield, a badge of honour, and a commemorative certificate by the President.
Nominations may be submitted by a Government office, a State-Owned Enterprise, or a company in which the Government holds a majority stake, as well as by individuals themselves. The nominee must have either previously served or be currently serving in the respective office or company putting forward the nomination.
Nominations can be submitted from today until 2:00pm on Thursday, 11 June 2026, via the President's Office submission portal at http://apply.presidency.gov.mv.
The Committee invites applicants to take particular care in completing all required information and submitting the relevant supporting documents alongside the application form.
The Committee will assess nominations against a range of criteria, including performance and sincerity in the discharge of one's duties, and the application of one's skills and abilities to the advancement of the institution as a whole. Consideration will also be given to the nominee’s active involvement in institutional work and to achievements attained in their profession. The Committee will also verify whether any criminal or civil cases are pending against them.
