As part of his tour to some islands of South Thiladhunmathi atoll, President Nasheed has this afternoon visited Vaikaradhoo and Makunudhoo.

Addressing the people of Vaikaradhoo, the President said that although Vaikaradhoo was a relatively big island, it was regrettable that many of its people are forced to live in Male’. Noting that the reason for this was the lack of services in the island, the President said that the government would address this issue.

Highlighting that Vaikaradhoo was an agricultural island, the President said that the government aimed to develop agriculture in the island. In addition, he said that the island could also be developed in the field of information technology.

From Vaikaradhoo, the President next visited Makunudhoo. Meeting with the people of Makunudhoo, the President spoke on the developmental projects planned for the island.

He also said that the government aimed to build a better education system in the Maldives. Speaking in this regard, the President said single session schools were important to produce better results. Furthermore, the President said that the government was working to make Makunudhoo School a single session school by next year.
