President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the construction of approximately fifteen mosques across the country is scheduled for completion before the month of Ramadan.

In a post on his official X account, the President shared the update and congratulated the residents of HA. Dhidhdhoo on the opening of their new Islamic Centre today. The facility includes an Islamic library and a branch of the Centre for the Holy Qur’an.

Highlighting the Government’s priority to complete ongoing projects, President Dr Muizzu noted the target to finalise key works ahead of Ramadan. He added that a mosque in Hulhumalé Phase II is among those slated for completion by this deadline. To address the shortage of permanent mosques in Hulhumalé Phase II, the President further announced that construction of an additional mosque in the area will begin in December.

The President reiterated that the Government’s aim in establishing mosques and Islamic centres across the Maldives is to strengthen Islamic unity and promote the values and culture of the faith. He concluded his post with a prayer for the well-being and success of the Maldivian people.
