President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed three new members to the Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission today, following their election by the Parliament. The appointments were made under the authority granted to Parliament by Section 17(a)(1) and Section 20(b) of the Maldives Media and Broadcasting Regulation Act (16/2025).
The newly appointed members are Mohamed Farshath, Safa Shafeeq, and Uza Aminath Saraahath Izzath
The Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission comprises seven members, three of whom are elected by the Parliament and four by media representatives, in accordance with the provisions of the Maldives Media and Broadcasting Act.
On 13 October 2025, four members were formally appointed to represent broadcasters and other media organisations on the Commission. These included two representatives from broadcasting entities and two from other media organisations.
