President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Administration’s efforts to discourage tobacco use and vaping are aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles among citizens.

In a post shared on his X account to mark World Food Day, the President noted that the Administration has prioritised ensuring the availability of basic and nutritious domestic produce in the market.

He emphasised that building a society centred on health, disease prevention, and the well-being of children depends on cultivating a positive attitude towards health and fostering healthy eating habits. The President further highlighted that the Administration has introduced a comprehensive set of policies aimed at raising awareness to achieve this vision.

Concluding his message, President Dr Muizzu offered a prayer to Allah Almighty, seeking good health, blessings in sustenance, and overall well-being for the Maldivian people.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also conveyed greetings on the occasion through a post on her X account. She emphasised that food is more than a basic necessity, describing it as a fundamental right. She noted that food not only nourishes but also plays a vital role in uniting people across cultures and communities.

Her message further drew attention to the challenges facing global food security – challenges compounded by factors such as climate change and conflict. The First Lady underscored the importance of collective action, calling for strengthened partnerships, scaled-up global efforts, and meaningful change to end hunger, improve nutrition, and ensure food security for all.
