On the occasion of National Tourism Day, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to the preservation of the Maldives’ natural beauty, tranquillity, and cultural heritage. In a message shared via his official X account, the President expressed heartfelt appreciation to past and present professionals in the tourism sector for their invaluable service.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also conveyed her gratitude to those who have supported and shaped the industry over the past 53 years, offering prayers for its continued growth and the safeguarding of its unique charm.
The Administration remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing tourism through strategic expansion into additional atolls, alongside key legislative reforms to enhance resilience. Infrastructure development is being pursued with a strong emphasis on environmental stewardship and cultural preservation.
National Tourism Day commemorates the opening of the Maldives’ first resort, Kurumba Village, in Vihamanafushi, Malé Atoll, on October 3, 1972.
