President Dr Mohamed Muizzu visited the site of the National Surfing Stadium on Thursday afternoon to inspect ongoing development works. Located in the Varunulaa Raalhugandu area near the Sinamalé Bridge, the site is the primary hub for surfing and bodyboarding in Malé City.
The President was accompanied by the Minister of Sports and Fitness, Abdulla Rafiu, as he reviewed plans for the international-standard facility. The design includes a spectator stand, rostrum, media zone, commentary box, camera deck, observation point, gym, terrace, multipurpose hall, and conference hall.
The stadium is a key component of the Presidential Pledge. Once completed, it will enable the Maldives to host international surfing competitions and is expected to drive growth in the water sports sector.
This development underscores the Administration’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting active, healthy lifestyles.
