President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Th. Thimarafushi Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions to discuss key development priorities. The meeting took place at Thimarafushi School.

During the discussions, council members highlighted the community’s most pressing needs. They requested the expedited completion of the health centre extension and the harbour expansion project. The Council also called for urgent resolution of issues related to the water and sanitation systems, as well as the electricity network, to enable the handover of the completed 100-housing-unit project to residents.

Additionally, they noted the need to upgrade the turf grounds, resolve challenges faced by the youth centre, and construct a dedicated volleyball court for women. Representatives from the school raised concerns over inadequate space and appealed for a viable solution.

The President assured the participants that the Government would take their concerns into consideration. He was accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises, who also provided updates on ongoing development initiatives.
