President Dr Mohamed Muizzu congratulated the Maldives national football team participating in the South Asian Super Cup 2025 in Sri Lanka through a telephone call, commending their recent victory and offering words of encouragement.
Speaking with the team’s coach, Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan), this morning, the President praised their performance in yesterday’s match and urged them to remain determined in their pursuit of success throughout the tournament. He further encouraged the team to play with unity and national spirit, striving for prestigious titles and bringing honour to Maldivian football.
Coach Shiyaz described the President’s call as an additional source of joy and motivation for the team. He affirmed that, in line with the President’s hopes, the players are determined to give their best and aim to secure the tournament trophy in the upcoming matches.
The Government has pledged to revive and develop football in the Maldives, restoring its former glory. New facilities are also being established in Malé and across the atolls to strengthen sports development nationwide.
