President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has dissolved the Special Presidential Commission established to investigate the incident that occurred in Malé on April 18, 2025.

The decision was formalised today through a Presidential Decree issued under Section 22 of Act No. 4/2019 (Presidential Commissions Act).

The Commission was formed on April 27, 2025, under the discretion granted to the President by Article 115 (o) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives. It was tasked with conducting a fair, independent, and credible investigation into the incident involving a Maldivian youth found collapsed on the rooftop of a building in Malé on April 18. Its mandate included establishing the facts surrounding the incident, reviewing the actions of relevant institutions, taking necessary measures, and advising the President.

The Commission’s final report was made public on June 17, 2025. Following its publication, President Dr Muizzu instructed the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology and the Ministry of Health to take appropriate action based on the report’s recommendations.
