His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé after his visit to the United Kingdom to launch the Maldives tourism campaign with Liverpool FC.
During his visit, the President attended the Liverpool FC vs Everton Merseyside derby on Wednesday evening, marking the historic kick-off of the Maldives tourism promotion campaign in collaboration with Liverpool Football Club as part of a co-branded initiative between Liverpool FC and the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)/Visit Maldives.
The President also held numerous engagements during his visit to the UK, including his engagement with Football for Peace, a visit to the prestigious University of Leeds, where he met with the University senior officials, the Member of Parliament for Leeds Central and Headingley. He also met the Lord Mayor of Leeds and Mayor of West Yorkshire and met with local students studying in the UK. The President also reinstated No. 9 Rosemont Avenue, London as the premises of the Maldivian Students’ Association-UK (MSA-UK) during his visit.
The President was accompanied by His Excellency Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Tourism and Environment; His Excellency Abdulla Rafiu, Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation; Ibrahim Shiuree, Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation; and other relevant senior government officials.
