President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has applauded the Maldives’ election for membership of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women for the 2026-2030 term, describing it as a great honour.
Via his official ‘X’ account, the President congratulated all countries elected to the Commission today.
Highlighting the importance of collective partnership, he indicated willingness to assist the Commission on pressing matters concerning women’s rights and empowerment.
Noting that Maldives has made significant strides in advancing women’s rights and status both at national and international level over the years, the President expressed keenness to work with all partners to strengthen the mechanisms of the Commission for a more inclusive future.
