President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has concluded his visit to South Nilandhe Atoll and returned to Male'.

During the visit, the President toured Kudahuvadhoo, Maaen'boodhoo, Ban'didhoo, Meedhoo, Rin'budhoo, and Hulhudheli, meeting with Island Councils, Women's Development Committees, heads of institutions, and residents. Throughout these engagements, the President expressed his commitment to making important decisions and delivering services that the people desire.

In Kudahuvadhoo, the President assured residents of his plans to develop their harbour into an operational commercial port during his term. He also highlighted the Government's ongoing projects in education and health, including land reclamation and sports facility development in Maaen'boodhoo. For Ban'didhoo, he announced that the harbour's outer breakwater relocation and land reclamation work will commence next year without delay. To the people of Meedhoo, the President declared that Dh. Uhdhoo will be designated as a picnic island for the entire atoll, while confirming that land reclamation work in Hulhudheli would begin in July as scheduled.

A significant achievement during the visit was the President's inauguration of ATM services on several islands, making Nilandhe Atoll the first in the country to have ATM services across all its inhabited islands.

When addressing residents, the President reaffirmed that all stalled projects mentioned in his Presidential Address would resume in February and March.

The President also unveiled important decisions regarding housing. Island councils have now been instructed to review housing unit projects and allow individuals to build homes on their own land. Furthermore, the list of 4,000 flats in Greater Male' area will be finalised and announced this week. Residents allocated land in yet to be reclaimed Gulhi Falhu areas will now receive plots from existing reclaimed areas, with handover expected within two to three months. Additionally, the Government will oversee the reclamation of Giraavaru Falhu to expedite the process and reclaim 125 hectares from Uthuru Thila Falhu specifically for housing. The flat list will be announced on Thursday.

On healthcare matters, the President announced that all medicines listed in the Essential Medicine List of the Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) will be available from March 15, while all medicines in the approved list will be accessible from April 15 through State Trading Organization (STO) pharmacies.

The President confirmed he will resume his visits to meet the people after the holy month of Ramadan.
