President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Dh. Rin'budhoo Island Council, the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and heads of institutions to address the island's developmental needs. The meeting was held at Rin'budhoo School this morning.
Speaking at the meeting, the Council expressed the aspirations of the community. They emphasised the need to tackle the shortage of space in schools, health centres, and mosques, as well as address the power crisis and the issue of erosion. Additionally, they noted that the island's youth are interested in sports fishing and urged the Government to place fish aggregating devices (FAD) for sports fishing.
During the meeting, WDC members emphasised that budget constraints were hindering their ability to perform effectively.
The President provided an update on the progress of development projects in Rin'budhoo and discussed the Government's efforts to address the citizens' concerns. Several Ministers and company executives attended the meeting. During the discussion, the President also stated that the Government would explore ways to alleviate the budget constraints faced by the WDC.
Prior to the meeting, the President inaugurated the services of the newly established Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM at Rin'budhoo. He also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Council Secretariat building in Rin'budhoo.
