His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended warm greetings and good wishes to the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Government and the people of Kuwait on the occasions of Kuwait’s National Day (25 February) and Liberation Day (26 February).
In his letters to the Amir and the Prime Minister of Kuwait, President Dr Muizzu noted that the close friendship and long-standing bilateral ties between the Maldives and Kuwait are laid on Islamic faith and shared values. He expressed his confidence that cooperation and solidarity on issues of common interest will continue to thrive for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both countries in the years ahead.
President Dr Muizzu also conveyed his personal best wishes for the good health and well-being of the Kuwaiti Amir and Prime Minister and for the progress and prosperity of the Kuwaiti people.
Kuwait’s National Day is marked on 25 February in remembrance of the former Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, ’s accession to the throne in 1950, while its Liberation Day on 26 February marks Kuwait's regaining independence in 1991.
