The fourth forum of the 'Ahaa' series, through which the Government provides direct answers to citizens' questions, was held tonight.

The series is jointly conducted by the President's Office and Public Service Media (PSM).

Five Ministers participated in tonight's forum to provide information and answer questions from the public. The participating Ministers were Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Social and Family Development Dr Aishath Shiham, and Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed.

Ministers provided information about ongoing Government work and directly answered citizens' questions during the two-hour session. While numerous public questions were received, some containing personal information will be shared with relevant Ministries for appropriate follow-up. This direct engagement initiative reflects the Government's commitment to working closely with citizens and promoting greater transparency in its operations.

The forum addressed a wide range of topics spanning religious, economic, social, business, and higher education sectors. As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, the Ministers emphasised the importance of upholding Islamic principles while promoting compassion and kindness throughout the community. In addressing economic concerns, they appealed to businesses to maintain stable prices for essential goods, with the Government assuring citizens of firm action against any unjustified price increases.

Addressing concerns about the Maldives' international reputation, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed firmly dismissed any attempts to label the nation as extremist. On the economic front, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed elaborated on the mutual benefits the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China would bring to both citizens and the country.

Domestic matters were also covered, with Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed addressing matters within the education sector. Minister of Social and Family Development Dr Aishath Shiham discussed various social challenges facing the nation, while Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim outlined developments in tourism and environmental protection.

Ministers highlighted their coordinated efforts to fulfil President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's presidential pledges, detailing ongoing initiatives to overcome challenges and improve service delivery to citizens.

The forum, which shares information about Government's work with the public, has been structured in two formats with some including the President's participation, while others featuring Ministers. This fourth session was held at PSM.

The public forum with Ministers is open to everyone, and questions can be submitted through various channels, including in-person attendance, phone calls, SMS, and social media.
