President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured the residents of HA. Maarandhoo that the upcoming period will see extensive development work.

The President offered these assurances during his current tour of several islands in the North Thiladhunmathi Atoll.

Speaking at an afternoon meeting with residents, President Dr Muizzu promised solutions for various sectors including sports facilities, harbour development, coastal erosion, infrastructure, waste management, and social services, as well as healthcare and education needs.

The President emphasised that he clearly remembers the promises made during the Presidential campaign, noting that the Government remains seriously committed to fulfilling them. He stated that the Government plans to implement these initiatives in 2025, adding that projects delayed from the previous year would also be expedited.

Acknowledging the numerous development projects that have been initiated and subsequently halted on the island, President Dr Muizzu explained that the current Administration has identified ways to resume these works. He specifically assured residents of a comprehensive solution to the harbour issues. Additionally, he promised to address coastal erosion, school space constraints, and healthcare centre service improvements, stating that work would resume in the near future.

The President also announced that HA. Maarandhoo would be integrated into the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) scheduled ferry service before Ramadan.

During the official meeting with Maarandhoo residents, which was part of his ongoing series of visits to hear directly from citizens across the Maldives, President Dr Muizzu oversaw the handover of an ATM installation project from the Bank of Maldives (BML) to the Maarandhoo Island Council.

The President emphasised that these visits by himself and the Cabinet members should not be viewed as wasteful expenditure – rather, he pointed out that the real waste stems from the cost of delayed action. He indicated that meeting with local institutions alongside relevant Ministers facilitates swift resolution of issues.
