President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has urged everyone to be mindful of the nation's future, prioritise national vision, unite and move ahead with the nation, both as Maldivians and as Muslims.

He made the appeal at the community meeting held on Tuesday evening in HA. Dhihdhoo island.

Reiterating that he wished to see unity amongst all citizens, the President appealed to all to view events positively. He said the development brought to each island cannot be revoked and the benefits can be reaped by the residents of that island, irrespective of political ideology.

The President added that all citizens were equal and accorded equal treatment by the state. He further added that differing views were normal and that there would always be room for differences of opinion.

President Dr Muizzu said the Administration would not curtail any rights specified in the Constitution. He said there was no room for retribution or political vendetta in his administration.

The President noted that whilst differing views had their place in political discourse, slanderous rhetoric that harmed individual liberties and defamed individuals would not be tolerated. A society that prides itself on respect and dignity, he said, was essential in maintaining peace and order and achieving developmental goals. He said this needed to be practised on an individual level for the nation to thrive.

The law, he added, was clear on the obligations of the state and the rights granted to citizens. The President assured that his Administration would seek to adhere to these tenets.
