President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Administration will take a citizen-centric approach to governance and developmental projects, facilitating rapid development and growth. He made the statement whilst speaking to the residents of Innamaadhoo, on Wednesday evening.
The President assured that the current budget for 2025 will prioritise finding a sustainable solution to the housing crisis. He announced that a 50-unit housing project would begin once the Council allocates land for the project.
While education and healthcare sectors take precedence after housing in the State budget, the President assured that individual needs of islands would not be compromised. As such, recognising that Innamaadhoo harbour expansion was a core issue for the island, the President pledged to expedite the process.
He further pledged to bring in development and resources to the education and healthcare sectors, reducing wait times and improving the sectors this year, as requested by the citizens.
President Dr Muizzu also pledged to resolve the issues of erosion, water and sewerage networks, road construction, and other development projects. He further pledged that this year and next year, youth-centric development projects had been prioritised in the budget.
The President concluded his address by stating the that he intended to make a second visit to celebrate with the citizens the successful completion of the projects.
