President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday met with members of the Maduvvari Island Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC), and heads of institutions to discuss the island's developmental needs.
During the meeting, the Maduvvari Council urged the officials to address the issue of erosion on the island and the shortage of land space and increase the land to the extent that it is possible. The Maduvvari Council also requested expediting the road development project and harbour reconstruction. In addition, the council has asked the Government to add R. Ufulandhoo to the jurisdiction of Maduvvari.
The members also expressed their anticipation for the completion of the football stadium and the fitness and recreation centre, which will be valuable community facilities once finished and handed over to the Maduvvari Council.
The President, through the Cabinet Ministers present at the meeting, shared the latest information on the issues raised by the Council, demonstrating the Government's accountability and transparency in responding to the community's needs.
