President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured residents of R. Rasgetheemu that development projects for the island will be expedited this year.
He made these remarks whilst speaking to residents during his ongoing tour of several islands in North Maalhosmadulu Atoll.
The President stated that the Government's aim and plan is to initiate all projects promised during his Presidential campaign this year, with some to be completed within the same period.
He announced that harbour construction work would commence this year, whilst the school's classrooms and hall construction would be completed within the year.
Furthermore, he stated that work on sports infrastructure and facilities, waste management solutions, and healthcare improvements would begin in the coming months.
The President noted that ministers accompanying him on this tour had held extensive discussions with the Island Council, Women's Development Committee and heads of island institutions. He assured that there would be coordinated efforts amongst the council, ministries and companies to implement these projects.
Concluding his remarks, the President stated that if residents wished, he would return to Rasgetheemu at year's end to celebrate the completion of these projects and their successful outcomes.
During the ceremony, Bank of Maldives officially handed over the ATM establishment project to the Island Council.
