President Dr Muizzu has concluded his trip to Huvadhu Atoll and returned to Male' this evening.
During the visit, the President toured the islands in Huvadhoo Atoll that he could not visit last year. He met with members of the local councils and Women's Development Committees from those islands. The President engaged with residents, listened to their concerns, and pledged to sustainable solutions. Additionally, he briefed the community on the Government's ongoing efforts to advance the development of their islands.
During his addresses to the people, the President shared promising updates. He emphasised that this year’s state budget prioritises a comprehensive solution to the nation’s longstanding housing problem. Highlighting the shelter financing programme as a significant initiative to achieve this goal, he described it as a golden opportunity for citizens. He encouraged citizens to make the most of it.
The President also underscored the Government’s commitment to enhancing governance in the agriculture sector. He revealed that efforts are underway to achieve self-sufficiency in food production within the Maldives while seeking investors to support this initiative. Additionally, he reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to steering the country’s economy out of its current challenges.
The visit was part of a series of visits that he has been making to meet all the councils and visit all the islands of the country.
During his visit, the President was accompanied by a high-level Government delegation.
