President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced a contractor will be hired to build the new harbour in GDh Nadellaa this January. He made these remarks while addressing the residents of Nadellaa Island during his visit to several islands in Huvadhu Atoll today.
The President stated that the current Nadellaa harbour has not met the demands of the island's development since 2008. He emphasised that the design of the new harbour will address the challenges of erosion and swell surging on the island.
The President announced plans to build a new mosque in Nadellaa and acknowledged the challenges locals face regarding limited space at the school and health centre. He stated that this year will mark the beginning of efforts to address the concerns of the island's youth. These initiatives will include the development of a football field, a futsal court, a volleyball court, and a youth centre.
The President announced that Nadellaa would not remain the only island in the GDh Atoll without police services. As such, the President announced that in line with the Administration’s policies, Nadellaa will also receive the necessary police services to meet the needs of its population.
The President assured that the Government would work diligently to address the concerns raised by the Island Council of Nadellaa
