President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to begin construction of 100 housing units in ADh. Mahibadhoo next year. The announcement came during his meeting with Mahibadhoo residents, as part of his ongoing tour of islands in Ari Atoll South.
Referring to the Government-approved housing budget, President Dr Muizzu confirmed that construction will commence on existing available land. He also provided assurance that plans for the reclamation and development of Maafaru lagoon, which falls under Mahibadhoo's jurisdiction, would align with residents' wishes.
The President highlighted the wider regional benefits of developing Mahibadhoo as an urban centre, emphasising that the Maafaru lagoon development would exemplify genuine urban development.
Looking ahead, President Dr Muizzu outlined the Government's commitment to addressing residents' concerns over the next four years. He stressed that their policy focuses on tailoring development to meet local needs within this timeframe, encompassing both infrastructure improvements and meaningful progress for the community.
