President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Saturday assured that the Government would address the concerns raised by the Dhan’gethi Island Council, working towards finding amicable solutions. He made these remarks during a meeting with the Dhan’gethi Island Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC).
During the meeting at the Secretariat of the Dhan’gethi Island Council, members highlighted their concerns about the harbour extension project. They requested a land reclamation project to provide land plots for the youth, emphasised the need for a multi-purpose hall for the island school, and discussed ways to generate additional income for the island. They also stressed the necessity of a USD ATM on the island and shared the challenges posed by space constraints at the Council Secretariat.
Cabinet Ministers accompanying the President provided updates on the latest developmental projects planned for Dhan’gethi Island.
President Dr Muizzu assured the council that the government would consider their concerns and announced plans to establish a cultural centre on the island. He also mentioned that the Administration would explore the possibility of providing a USD ATM and addressing other issues raised by the council.
