First Day Madam Sajidha Mohamed has opened the “Hura Ekuveringe Hiyaa”. The Hiyaa, a community centre, was opened during the First Lady’s visit to the island, where she received a warm welcome.
Following the opening, the First Lady addressed the ceremony, highlighting the close bonds among the residents of the island. She expressed hope that the Hiyaa would further deepen these bonds.
She added that the modern age is a digitalised age, adding that most interactions were now virtual. However, she said, physical interactions played a far broader role in developing and enhancing interpersonal relationships. The Hiyaa, she said, would be an important step in achieving such goals.
The First Lady spent time with the residents of the island at the Hiyaa after opening the centre.
