President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the Mathiveri Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Sunday evening at the Mathiveri Island Council Secretariat in North Ari Atoll to discuss the community's most pressing developmental needs.

During the meeting, the Council members expressed its desire to change the Mathiveri school project and urged the Government to expedite it. The Council also stated housing was needed and urged the Government to start the land reclamation project as soon as possible. Concerns regarding the provision of health care were also shared in detail. The Council urged the Government to build an airport on the island, which could potentially boost tourism and the local economy, and to ensure it is done in the best interest of the tourism industry.

During the meeting, the ministers accompanying the President shared the latest updates on development projects in Mathiveri island.

Speaking at the meeting, the President reassured the Council and the community that he would build an airport at Mathiveri Island. He added that he would work closely with the Council to design the project and that the Government would make every effort to address the issues raised by the Council.
