The President meets with President of Azerbaijan on the sidelines of COP29

On the sidelines of COP29, President His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with the President of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Ilham Aliyev.

During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu thanked President Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s efficient hosting of COP29 and the hospitality shown to the Maldivian delegation. He highlighted the recent introduction of direct flights between the two countries, and expressed interest in increasing Azerbaijani investments in the Maldives.

President Aliyev expressed interest in enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries. He commended the Maldives leadership in climate change and thanked the President's active participation at COP29.

Both Presidents reaffirmed their determination to make COP29 a successful platform for advancing global climate action and cooperation.
