The High Commissioner of New Zealand to the Maldives, His Excellency David Pine presented his Letters of Credence to the President, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.

The High Commissioner was escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession “Haiykolhu” with MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.

The High Commissioner presented his Letters of Credence to the President, who accepted it and welcomed him as the High Commissioner of New Zealand to the Maldives.

Following the presentation, the President and High Commissioner discussed areas for mutual cooperation, including higher education, and expanding the tourism sector between both countries.

Diplomatic Relations between the Maldives and New Zealand were established on October 10, 1974.

The High Commissioner is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident High Commissioner and resides in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
