Ambassador of the State of Eritrea to the Maldives, His Excellency Alem Tsehaye Woldemariam, presented his Letters of Credence to the President, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu, at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.

The Ambassador was escorted to the President's Office from Republic Square in a cultural procession called "Haiykolhu" with the MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.

The Ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to the President, who accepted it and welcomed him as the Ambassador of the Eritrea to the Maldives.

Following the presentation, the President and Ambassador discussed exploring trade and the economy cooperation, as well as avenues of cooperation at the international level.

Diplomatic relations between Maldives and Eritrea was established on 10th February 2021. This is the first Eritrean Ambassador accredited to the Maldives.

The Ambassador is accredited to the Maldives as a non-resident Ambassador and resides in New Delhi, India.
