Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef stated that serving the public is a challenging responsibility that requires patience, wisdom and respect. He made these remarks while speaking at the opening of the Maldives Civil Service Conference 2024.

Highlighting the significance of civil service in the administration of the Government, the Vice President stated that the Government, as an institution, depends on the role of civil servants. He appealed to all civil servants to show compassion and serve with a smile.

Additionally, the Vice President urged the modernisation of service delivery by adopting technological tools. He continued by discussing the solutions that modern technology can provide, such as offering online services.

The fourth Maldivian Civil Service Conference, with this year's theme "Smart Governance for Civil Service Excellence," commenced today and will feature 15 papers across three sectors. More than 250 attendees from all over the country are participating in the conference.
