This evening, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu concluded his official visit to several islands in the Hahdhunmathi Atoll.

During the visit, the President toured several islands of Laamu Atoll, holding meetings with the councils, Women's Development Committees (WDCs), and the Atoll Council. Throughout these discussions, the President addressed the developmental requirements of the islands and atolls, focusing on the most pressing needs of the residents.

Additionally, the Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to redevelop Kadhdhoo Airport as an international airport. This ceremony also saw the Laamu Integrated Maritime Hub development project contracted and launched.

As part of the President’s commitment to visiting all atolls in the Maldives and engaging with the atoll councils, city councils, and island councils nationwide, he seeks to assess citizens' well-being and discuss the prioritisation of crucial developmental projects. To date, the President has held discussions with 162 local councils. President Dr Muizzu has previously announced his intention to visit every island twice within this five-year term.

Following the visit to Hahdhunmathi Atoll, the President is scheduled to undertake an unofficial visit to Addu City, Hithadhoo, today.
