President Dr Mohamed Muizzu expressed the Government's commitment to producing a diverse range of foods to meet the needs of all citizens. He made these remarks while addressing the people of In’guraidhoo Island, North Maalhosmadulu, on Sunday evening.
Speaking at the meeting, the President outlined the government's plan to achieve "food security". He emphasised the importance of prioritizing islands active in the Maldives' agricultural industry and attracting investments to the country to achieve this goal. The President further stated that within the next two to three years, this initiative aims to produce enough food for all Maldivian citizens.
Furthermore, the President articulated the Administration's goal of making citizens self-sufficient, independent, and self-reliant. He underscored the need for achieving self-sufficiency in infrastructure, economic, and social growth, emphasizing the importance of reforming the decision-making process to mitigate external influences. The President affirmed the Administration's commitment to progressing in this direction.
During the meeting, the President reiterated his commitment to delivering pledges to the people, specifically mentioning the construction of an airport in Raa Atoll according to the wishes of the residents. He highlighted the economic benefits of this initiative, including job creation and increased revenue for the country.
In’guraidhoo is the fourth destination visited by the President as part of his tour of North and South Maalhosmadulu.
