President Mohamed Nasheed has said that misappropriation of state funds will be taken very seriously. He made this statement this afternoon while speaking to the people of Kolhufushi. He also said that legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty of misappropriation.
Speaking further, the President said that his government promoted and encouraged greater involvement of the people in the development of the country.
Also, noting that one of the electoral pledges made by his administration was to provide permanent housing for all internally displaced persons following the tsunami within a period of 1 year, the President said funds have been budgeted to build 180 housing units in Kolhufushi.
Focusing on the housing project for Kolhufushi, President Nasheed said the work had not been undertaken due to corruption and mismanagement.
