President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that his primary goal has been to listen to the people’s needs and work towards meeting their aspirations. He made the remarks while speaking with the residents of GDh. Madaveli this evening.
At the meeting held at Madaveli School, the President relayed that the Madaveli Island Council had conveyed the need for numerous projects for the island’s development during today's meeting. He stated that the Administration would diligently work towards achieving the desired outcomes.
The President stated that resolving the housing issues is a primary goal besides the national issues pledged by the Administration and assured that the Administration would initiate land reclamation in Madaveli island. He added that the Administration would align its work to achieve long-term benefits for the island. In addition, the President assured that the Administration would develop a harbour suited to the needs of the island community.
The President revealed that the Administration had inherited a debt of MVR 120 billion to foreign entities and an additional MVR 9 billion in unpaid bills owed to locals for commissioned work. Despite this, the President said that the Administration is committed to fulfilling the needs of the people, producing results and reviving the Maldivian economy.
A high-level Government delegation accompanies the President on his tour of several islands in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, and the North and South Huvadhu Atolls.
